Courses conducted at Technical Colleges are advertised usually in May in the Public Gazette, and news papers. You can submitted application (On line) through this web site. (www.dtet.gov.lk)

Send the completed application form to the relevant Technical College before the closing date. The contact addresses of all the Technical Colleges available in the web site http://www.dtet.gov.lk/ or you can register at any time at the Carrier Guidance Canter of Technical College by sending application via e-mail or visit personally.

In the web site we have categorized technical courses according to the entry qualifications. You can find a list of courses under Course Information.

Course categorized according to the Industry Sectors are given under “Courses” in the web site www.dtet.gov.lk

Two Methods :

  • Following a NVQ course in any Technical College or
  • Under RPL system(Recognition of Prior Learning) which is explained under the General Information in the web site. For more details access the web site : http://www.dtet.gov.lk

Fees are not charged from students who are following the full time day courses in Technical Colleges. However course fee is charged from those who are following part time / evening courses.

Course fee:

  • Part time/Evening Certificate courses ( more than one year) Rs.5000 per year
  • Part time/Evening One year courses and Short term course(less than one year) Rs.3000 per course
  • Part time/Evening Short-term courses less than 6 months – Rs.2000 per course

Mostly students following trade courses (craftsman) could easily find jobs in the industry or self employed. See web site under course information.

Certainly Yes, with the establishment of the University of Vocational Technology at Rathmalana students are provided a path way to earn a degree level qualification through NVQ ladder
